The Marketplace

The Marketplace is a community food larder ran by Freedom Church. It is open every Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon.

The Marketplace offers food that would otherwise be disposed of by supermarkets as they are unable to sell it. In providing this community larder we hope to achieve two goals; to help us eat more sustainably by reducing the environmental impact of food waste and to help reduce food poverty in the area.

A cost of £2.00 is levied per visit to help offset the costs of running The Marketplace.

A cafe is run in tandem with The Marketplace, providing a community space and alleviating the isolation that is often brought about by debt, sickness and other issues.  The charity CAP (Christians Against Poverty) will also be present to help people with debt advice and budgeting.

We ask people to book their time slot to visit as it helps us understand the numbers of shoppers to expect — but you are also welcome to just turn up.
